The summer of 2019 saw the team working on numerous AV projects for festivals across a range of locations. Festivals are always exciting and fun projects to work on, and we love having the chance to be involved with the planning and production of these sorts of events.
Festival production seems to develop year on year, with event organisers and attendees always looking for something to make their event memorable and offer wow-factor moments. Using high-grade professional equipment combined with creativity and design are some of the components we call upon when tasked with any festival commission.
We were lucky enough to work at some world-renowned festival events in 2019, and wanted to give you a rundown on a few of them, and what was involved from our perspective.
Boomtown Fair
2019 was our first year at this truly incredible event. A 77,000 capacity festival, Boomtown has been operating since 2009 with its site based in Hampshire. Split into four main areas, each featuring its own district with a main stage and smaller stages and theatricals, the Boomtown production is jaw-dropping.
SLLFX’s involvement in the festival saw us supplying 40 panels of P6 LED screen for the Psytrance Forest complete with video processor and rigging.
Shambala
Combining a range of musical styles, food, theatre and interactive displays amongst much more, Shambala is a utopia of inventive, eclectic offerings aimed at party-goers and families alike.
Based in Market Harborough in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside, the event boasts over 200 acts across 12 stages, world-class cabaret, a fantastic array of workshops, stand-up comedy, inspirational talks and debates, circus and acrobatics, interactive theatre and nationally acclaimed poetry all housed in beautifully decorated venues.
We worked alongside the Data Mine team for their stage at the festival, supplying and installing 28 panels of P6 LED screen, 6 L-Acoustics Kara tops, 4 SB28 subs, amp racks and a full Pioneer DJ set up.
Check out our showreel below to see more of the install process and the final result.
Doc Fest
Sheffield Doc/Fest is a world-leading festival and marketplace, celebrating, sharing and debating the stories of our time, through documentary and non-fiction storytelling. 28,000 members of the public attended the 2019 edition of the event along with 3,489 industry delegates from 59 countries around the world.
The festival runs for six days and champions new talent, interaction, collaboration and discovery across film, live events, art/cinema, talks, marketplace and social events.
Our team supplied and installed a 3m x 2m P3 LED screen for the event, which was used to screen film and performances from the festival.
